About
In fairy stories, tree spirits speak, birds are helpful messengers, and truth is stronger than deceit.
I find this sort of fairy story "magic" and truth in quiet, wondrous moments making vivid contact with nature.
Through adventuring in forests and underwater, I came to realize we actually do live in a world where winged-ones, four-legged ones, water, stones, wind, rain, and sunshine are always speaking with us...as we reawaken our capacity to listen.

Beautiful stories and imagery can remind us of the possibility of experiencing the sort of connection with nature that feels like an awakening. Whether it was choreographing dance theater or, now, painting and writing, it is always my intention to bring that vivid connection to nature to projects.

....ALSO...It's been extremely fun to learn observation techniques from others who have spent a great deal of time closely observing nature.
For example, what do botanists look for under a microscope when they're observing plants? What do geologists see in different types of rock? What do biologists notice about the behavior of specific bird species? What do traditional farmers notice about soil and how plants grow?
Learning how other careful observers make observations has opened my eyes to more and more miraculous details in nature and I'm so grateful to all of my teachers.

My artwork and words endeavor to bring together intuitive listening and careful observations in service of supporting others in connecting more profoundly and joyfully with nature—with the earth, our home.

Blessings on all your nature adventures—from giant mountain trees to the salty sea.
